How much does a soccer ball weigh?

According to FIFA (International Football Federation and Association) standards, official footballs must have very concrete characteristics:

– The circumference of the ball must be between 68 and 70 centimeters, with a diameter between 21.65 and 22.29 centimeters.

His weight must be between 410 and 450 grams (both inclusive) at the start of the match.

– The balloon must have a pressure between 1.6 and 2.1 atmospheres (600-1,100 g/cm2) at sea level.

FIFA itself usually indicates three levels of quality regarding soccer balls: FIFA Approved Ball, FIFA Inspected Ball and International Standard Ball. All balls used in international competitions must have one of these seals. To obtain it, they must pass a laboratory analysis during which their weight, their sphericity, their circumference, their pressure loss, their level of water absorption and their rebound are checked.
